Hello there.
Welcome to our strange birds' walhalla, a.k.a. our (Paulien Baudu and Herlinde Demaerel) blog about our travels and experiences in Zambia. We will be working here as intern teachers for VVOB. VVOB is a Belgian development organisation that works towards better educational standards in several countries.
We chose the theme strange birds as we are fascinated by Zambian wildlife and more specifically... their birds. Ofcourse we don't plan to make this an ornithology blog so we will expand this input to whatever happens to us (equally strange birds) in this country. As we are illustrators expect to see a lot of drawings and pictures.
4th of February.
Two days ago we arrived in Zambia. We are staying for a couple of days in Lusaka, the capital, where Nico and his wife Chau take good care of us. We ate and rest a lot and took some time to explore the city and surroundings. Today we wanted to visit a lodge and nature parc a bit outside the city, but the breaks of the car decided to boycot that plan.
No problem, we thought, and we drew the beatiful yard of our temporary hide-away. At least when Haruki, the overly enthusiastic dog, permitted us to do that.
Tomorrow we will start our official program.
We'll keep you tuned about it!
